On November 4th, City Council will meet to hear public comment and discuss CPL’s budget. CPL is facing cuts to vacant positions, and the proposed budget slashes our book budget in half!
Stand with AFSCME 1215 – Chicago Public Library Employees Union – to say: Our neighborhoods can’t afford any more cuts to our libraries!!!
– Attend the CPL budget hearing rally!
When: Tuesday, Nov. 4 @ 8 a.m.
What: A rally outside City Council chambers followed by packing the City Hall chambers. Also looking for folks willing to public comment!
How: Transit or carpool to City Hall! If needed, switch shifts or use benefit time to be there (personal, vacation, grievance, or comp) to attend. Wear your AFSCME shirt!
Who: AFSCME 1215 members, library patrons, and non-union workers who don’t want to see our budget further cut.
Why: The proposed budget makes further cuts to vacant positions (following last year’s cuts) and cuts our book budget in half. This is our chance to fight for fully-funded libraries for our patrons and communities!
– Make a rally sign at home or at the Lincoln-Belmont Branch meeting room on Thursday, 10/30 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
